Future of the Data Bank:Comments from SwitzerlandR. Chawla Paris, 10.6.09
Current View • Full satisfaction with Data Bank (DB) as international centre of reference for basic nuclear tools • Major contributions to knowledge preservation • Of particular importance: Databases of experiments, e.g. IRPhE (neutronics), IFPE (fuel behaviour), SINDBAD (shielding) and CCVM (thermal-hydraulics) • Close cooperation between the DB and Nuclear Science Committee, excellent basis for synergies Strong support for continuation of the DB’s activities in their current form
Possible Further Strengthening • Broadening of database activities (documentation of experimental benchmarks) into other areas such as materials testing and multi-scale modeling • Increased availability and promotion of benchmark tests documented in the past, e.g. International Standard Problems (ISPs) in thermal-hydraulics (CSNI) - Implies closer collaboration with committees other than just NSC
