Adjectives need to agree in number and gender with the noun(s) they modify. • If an adjective ends in –o, or the suffixes –án, -ín, ón, -dor, -tor, -sor, -ote or -ete there are 4 forms. *This course mainy focuses on the adjectives that end in –o. Masculine feminine Singular nervioso nerviosa Plural nerviosos nerviosas

  3. Adjectives need to agree in number and gender with the noun(s) they modify. • If an adjective ends in in any other ending has 2 forms and are the same in both genders. Masculine feminine Singular inteligente inteligente Plural inteligentes inteligentes

  4. If there is mixed gender, use the masculine form of the adjective. • Example…Mi mamá y mi papá son viejos. (My mom and my dad are old.

  5. Word list of basic adjectives for practice • casado (married) corto (short in length) • inteligente (intelligent) new (nuevo) • good (bueno) delgado (thin) • contento/feliz (happy) viejo (old) • tranquilo (calm) pobre (poor) • bajo (short in height) malo (bad)

  6. A practicar • Look at the subject and the adjective. • Translate the adjective using the correct form of the adjective. • Start the presentation and then hit the right arrow key to get the answer on each slide.
