Sample The sample size is of 12000 households per quarter Population Resident population of the country living in private households (at domestic addresses) Persons aged 15 years and above Survey tools: Dwelling Questionnaire Individual Questionnaire for persons aged 15 years + Labour force survey (1) UNECE Work Session on Migration Statistics, Geneva, 17-19 October 2012

Dwelling Questionnaire All members of the selected households are being registered in dwelling questionnaire, including those who are absent at the moment of interview for a long period of time (more than 1 year), if they keep family relations with the household they are a part of it Labour force survey (2) UNECE Work Session on Migration Statistics, Geneva, 17-19 October 2012

  7. Definition of labour migration in the frame of LFS: Number of persons who are declared by the households as “being abroad for work or looking for a job”. This information presents the situation at the moment of interview. Information is disaggregated by: sex, areas, age groups, level of the education, citizenship, marital status, relationship with the head of the household, country of destination and duration of the absence (less than 1 year, more than 1 year). Labour force migration, 2008 (2) The purpose of the module was to obtain additional characteristics concerning the persons who left abroad for work or in search of work, such as: reason for leaving, channels for labour migration, migration costs, ways to look for a job and working conditions, residence status in the destination country, occupation, status in employment and industry of the job abroad, working relations, social protection, problems faced, assistance sought, remittances etc. UNECE Work Session on Migration Statistics, Geneva, 17-19 October 2012

Sample The sample size was of about 13700 households The survey sample comprised: - the basic LFS sample for the 2nd quarter of 2008, and - the sub-sample of households that in 2007 had at least one member abroad working or looking for work. In total, 12,430 households took part in the survey. Data from 5,730 persons who “at the moment of the interview or during the last 12 months prior to the interview, were abroad, for work or looking for job” were collected. Labour force migration, 2008 (5) Individual Questionnaires: Questionnaire for “absent migrants” (LFM-A) – persons who were absent in the household at the moment of the interview, and the reason of absence being “working or looking for a job abroad”. Questionnaire for “returned migrants” (LFM-C) – persons who at the moment of the interview were in the household and who stated that during the last 12 months prior to the they worked or looking for a job abroad. Labour force migration, 2008 (6) Definition of labour migration in the frame of LFM Survey: “Migrants”, according to the survey methodology, are considered all persons who at the moment of the interview are abroad, working or looking for a job, or worked or looked for a job during the last 12 months prior to the interview.   15. Labour force migration 2012 (2) The main goal of the module is to provide information on labour migration and its skills dimension (some aspects). The purposes are: Providing information on the skills composition (linked to related characteristics) of migration flow for analysing and evaluation of its (migration) impact on potential of country skills and competences; Using the data collected for the design of legal labour migration schemes (to build result-based monitoring and evaluation systems).
