  3. We assume you have already installed Audacity and are now ready to save your first compressed MP3 recording.

  4. Download and install the LAME MP3 encoder • 1. Go to: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ • scroll down to here: • Click here • To download • Run the installer, following the directions. Remember the directory you install LAME in. The default is: • C:\Program Files\Lame for Audacity

  5. Save a file, exporting it as an MP3

  6. The first time you save an MP3 file, Audacity will display this dialog box: Click on Yes then locate the LAME file, lame_enc.dll that you downloaded previously.

  7. Navigate to lame_enc.dll and click Open 1 2 In my case, lame_enc.dll was in the directory: C:\Program Files\Lame for Audacity.

  8. This dialog box let’s you describe the file before it is saved

  9. That is it – Audacity will automatically export MP3 files in the future
