  2. General Information • Strongly Valued Religion • Christian Religion • But had religious tolerance

  3. Map of the Kings Claims This is a general map of the original coast of the United States. This map shows the coast of the Middle Colonies and also marks where the Indians lived, through out the Middle Colonies.

  4. History Of New Jersey • Originally Inhabited by Indians • Next came the Dutch • Salem was the first town built • Had many necessities such as bread, beer, beef, pork, butter, and cheese

  5. Mohawks in New york • All Mohawks had black hair, black eyes, and yellow skin. • Adults would be naked except for a patch. • Children up to Fourteen years old would go completely naked. • The woman immediately after giving birth would go wash their children and themselves in the river or snow, no matter the temperature.

  6. Mohawks (continued) • The woman do everything except hunting, fishing, and fighting. • Mohawks were cruel to their enemies in times of war. • Mohawks were cannibals. • Would sleep on the bare ground with nothing but wood or stone underneath their heads. • Fought a lot with Canadian Indians.

Delaware • Delaware had a legislature with two branches that got together at least once a year. • One branch was called the House of Assembly and the other branch was called The Council • All money-bills for the support of government shall originate in the house of assembly, and may be altered, amended, or rejected by the legislative council. • The Delegates for Delaware to the Congress of the United States of America shall be chosen annually, or superseded in the mean time, by joint ballot of both houses in the general assembly.

Government and life of New York • New York was governed by a Governor and Council. • Each free man had the right to vote who he wished with no constraints. • The Governor, Assembly, and Council were deemed forever the supreme and only legislative power under the Duke of York. • New York had many trials for the crime of Witch Craft.

  9. Life in Pennsylvania • Was said to have very good wages • Also said to be very “peaceable and healthy” • Women married young and had many children
