Whati’mgonnaexplain to you? • Parts of Plants • Howtheywork • Processes • Differenttypes of pollination • DifferentActivities: • Games • Activities • Questions & Answers
Parts of plants • Plants has gotdifferent • parts. They are: • -Reproductiveorgans • -Nutritionparts
Nutrition PARTS • Themainnutritiveparts • are: • -Stem • -Leaves • -Roots
TheStem • Thestem takes and • storagesnutrientsthat • rootsrecolected. Itgives • thenutrients to allthe • plant. • Thestemalsosupportthe • fruit, leaves and flowers.
roots • Roots are themostimportant • parts of eachplant. Theytake • differentnutrients and water • fromthesoil. • Theyalsogivesupporttothe • plant.
leaves • Leavestakethecarbon • dioxide and sunlight to mix it • withnutrients and waterto • makefood.
ProCess : photosyntesis • Plantsperformphotosyntesisto • givefood to alltheplants’ body: • 1st: Rootstakethenutrients. • 2nd: Nutrientspass to thestem. This mixture iscalled ‘rawsap’. • 3rd: Leavestakecarbondioxide (CO2) and sunlight and mix itwiththerawsap to makeelaboratedsap. • 4th: Elaboratedsappasses to thestem to feedalltheplant.
Process : Plant RESPIRATION • Duringthenight, plantstakeoxygen and expel • carbondioxide.
PlantsreproductiveORGANS And howtheywork
flowers • Flowershaveallthe • reproductiveorgans of • theplant: • -Pistil • -Corolla • -Calyx • -Stamen
Calyx • Thecalyxismade • up of a lot of • sepals. Theyprotect • thepetals and the • innerpartsof the • flower.
Corolla • Thecorollaismade up of petals. Italsoattracts • insects in ordertopollinatetheflower.
Pistil • Pistilisthefemaleorganof the • plant. It has threeparts: • -Stigma: It’swherepollengrainsenter. • -Style: It’swherepollen travels to theovary. • -Ovary: It’s full of ovules and iswherepollen and the ovule jointogerminatetheseedwiththefruit.
Stamen • Thestamenisthemalepart of • theplant. It has twoparts: • -Filament: Itsupportstheanther. • -Anther: It’swherethepollengrainsare.
Typesof pollination Pollination and cross-pollination
pollination • Thistype of pollinationisthemost • standard; normal pollination. • Whenthewindblows, pollen travels withit • and somepollengrainsfallinsideother • plantspistil. • Thisprocessiscalled ‘Pollination’.
Cross-pollination • In thistype of pollination, insects are • attractedbythepetals. Whenthey are on • theflower, pollenstickstotheirfeet. • Whentheyflyaway, somepollenfallsfrom • theirfeettotheflowerspistil. Thisprocess • iscalled • ‘Cross-pollination’.
