Many devices with computing ability BUT without ETHERNET connectivity (1) • Industrial applications • CNC Machines • Testing equipment • Measuring devices • and lots of others .....
Many devices with computing ability BUT without ETHERNET connectivity (2) • Telephone and office applications • Switches • Entrance systems • Monitoring systems • and lots of others.....
How to connect to these systems? • Most frequent • Proprietary ports(usually serial as well) • Serial ports • .....
How to manage these systems? • Big issues..... • no documentations (for expensive systems) • no specifications (so much secrets) • only PROPRIETARY software (with very poor programming !)
Goal: „bridge the management over IP“ (1) • Standardsolutions • 60 GHz units • Weather stations • monitoring...
Goal: „bridge the management over IP“ (2) • Benefits: • wireless connection • remote monitoring • more clients to check the status
Need to use a cheap HW solution (1) Many people go for a „terminal“ server (any WIN XP PC)
Need to use a cheap HW solution (2) Customized solutions on the market
Can we get USD 2x solution? Very cheap ! USD 21.90 PLN 52 But ......
What is missing in this cheap HW? Serial port ... Documentation ... Software ....
Can we use an RouterBoard? Cheap ? (USD 40+) Serial PORT POE Wireless Documentation RouterOS
Application examples (1) 60 to 80 GHz back bone links 100, 300, 1200 Mbps 6 to 14 km distance RS485 special utility
Application examples (2) 433 MHz serial port undocumented special utility
Setting STEP 1 - RouterBoard create USER + PASSWORD
Setting STEP 2 - RouterBoard Serial Port Settings according to the HW
Setting STEP 3 - RouterBoard • New Terminal • Special Login • assign user to console
Setting STEP 4 - RouterBoard System console add virtual port disable serial0
Setting STEP 1 to 4 - RouterBoard RouterBoard changes into SERIAL-2-ETHERNET
Setting STEP 5 – Client PC (1) com0com - FREEWARE
Setting STEP 5 – Client PC (2) com0com - FREEWARE • COM1 or COM2 for the utility • set the HW serial port parameters • COMx (COM12) for the processing • will be monitored by SPECIAL DRIVER • will pack and unpack data from SOCKET packets
Setting STEP 6 – Client PC (3) special i4wifi driver logs in as a remote user
Setting STEP 7 – Client PC (4) special i4wifi driver • IP address of the client RouterBoard • user login + password • connect to virtual Port (settings of the port) • get the DATA over the Terminal session
Setting STEP 8 – Client PC (5) special i4wifi driver • monitor the communication • green (WIN Soft) • yellow (HW)
What we can do for you? • programming for RouterOS • programming for Win /Net Framework • hardware and accessories solutions
Any questions? • 60 GHz solution ? • weather stations ? • any RouterOS questions? • any other questions? • any thing EXTRA?
