James: Marks of Maturity series introduction James 1:1 • Who is James? • The biological brother of Jesus • He was Jewish • He was a product of a sound spiritual home • He witnessed Jesus from childhood… • He witnessed Jesus’ death and resurrection • He became a disciple (Acts 1) • He was well respected by Paul and the other apostles • He was a leader among them throughout the book of Acts. • James had a HUGE heart to reach the Jews for Christ. • James was called to lead his fellow Jews to Jesus. • “The first Messianic Jewish pastor” • He was martyred by the Scribes and Pharisees in AD 62
