  4. Informative Essay • A good informative essay has: • A clear introduction (3 sentences with thesis) • States a focus/topic clearly • Uses specific evidence • Concludes effectively • Uses precise language • Shows control over conventions

  5. Directions • Choose a prompt • While we are reading today, use your highlighter to highlight evidence from the text that goes along with your prompt • Your essay MUST HAVE textual evidence

Writing • A thesis statement should do these things: • Clearly express what the essay is about • It should make a discussible point • Well written thesis: Although the behavior of Lindsay Lohan is essential to her position in obtaining a high social status, Reese Witherspoon’s behavior is equivalent of a woman with class and dignity that the world can respect. • Poorly written thesis: Reese Witherspoon is a good role model because she is classy, beautiful, and an all-around good person.
