  4. Trigger Concept • Identification of the emission: • Two frames (0.2s) of continuous time-ordered acoustic data are buffered • the envelope of the time-series is calculated, a threshold is applied. • If the threshold is exceeded, the time over threshold is determined and compared with the expected duration (5ms) of the emission. • If the emission is identified, a sample of 25ms around the signal is transferred the next step. • Identification of the emitter and the time of arrival: • Calculation of the cross-correlation function. • The result of cross-correlation function has prominent peak at the time difference Δt between sample and template. • By comparing the magnitude of this peak with the results of the other emitter templates, the emitter can be identified and the ToA. 5. Trigger Simulation Chain • MC Simulation includes: • Preliminary emitter characteristics (170-190 dB re 1µPa @ 1m) • Monochromatic emission (20-60kHz) • Propagation from emitter to sensor with attenuation in sea water • Ambient noise model derived from AMADEUS measurements • Preliminary sensor characteristics (sensitivity: -160 dB re 1V/Hz) • MC Simulation does not include: • Overlaping signals • Transient noise in the same frame, nearby shipping noise • No missing data Veranstaltung - Datum - Name
