World of Work Skills Certificate Process How to get a World of Work Skills Certificate Write a personal statement which demonstrates World of Work skills Bronze Self Awareness Silver Organisational Awareness Gold Making Things Happen Complete an employer interview • Bronze, Silver and Gold are formative stages, completed by submission and feedback • Certificate is achieved by a successful interview with an employer • To be eligible to progress to employer interview, Gold statement must meet all the “Making Things Happen” criteria

Employer Involvement • Supporting curriculum delivery in all faculties across the university, by offering Work Related Learning (placements, site visits, case studies, guest speakers, work shadowing) • Training to become interviewers for the World of Work Skills Certificate • Brokerage Team at the Centre co-ordinate these links for the whole of the university

27. Library and Student Support Staff • Learning Resource Centres are hubs for student activity • Collaboration with Library and Student Support Staff is therefore essential

Library and Student Support Staff • Essential partnership – L&SS staff are often the first port of call for student queries • Regular updates and training provided to L&SS staff, about our services and technical developments • Using Learning Resource Centres for one to one interviews with careers and employability advisers • Appointment booking - L&SS staff assist in booking these adviser interviews • Careers information integrated into the main LJMU library catalogue

39. Where are we now? • Over 5,500 students now taking part voluntarily • University is making Bronze stage of the World of Work Skills Certificate compulsory for all undergraduate students in 2012
