GWBasic Brewer operational software • The latest version is V3.78: • More information is saved • A useful, 2-letter, command to restart the last schedule • Many bugs (problems) fixed • Hopefully not very many new problems introduced • This version is now posted at www.io3.ca 13th Brewer User Workshop. Hardware issues: • Grounding: • Make sure you have grounded power cable and the ground wire is connected properly to inside the tracker • Leveling • Sighting • After you properly leveled and sighted the instrument, your sighting constants (the north and the horizon corrections) should stay more-or-less constant. If you see these two values need big adjustments then maybe something else is not right. 13th Brewer User Workshop. Beijing, China September 12-16, 2011

Nominal (expected) optical depth difference between neutral density filters is 0.5 (base 10) For example, the attenuation by filter 3 is supposed to be approximately 3 times less than the attenuation by filter 4 10^0.5=sqrt(10)=3.16 In Brewer #126 this ratio is 4.5. This means that at some solar angles intensity that the Brewer sees with filter 3 is too bright for the standard criteria and it is too dim with filter 4. Normally, there is a short period when the software alternates the filters. Some Brewers with such a situation with filters will benefit from increased overlap scenario when the filters are alternating. For this to work well, the dead time must be know very accurately since the maximum photon count rate will increase, which leads to more sensitivity to errors in the dead time. 13th Brewer User Workshop.
