Your Region’s Website What innovative ideas do you include on your Region’s website?
Your Region’s Website • Your Region’s latest news. • Countdown clocks to big events. • Links to social media. • Highlight your Region’s successes. • Multimedia: photos, videos, etc. • Sponsor promotions. RC - The Next Generation
Your Region and Facebook • Your Region Facebook Page is: • A great way to connect with parents, volunteers and your community. • An additional volunteer recruitment tool. • Also a way to create a wider audience for all your Region’s AYSO events: fundraising, tournaments, etc. RC - The Next Generation
Facebook Tip #1 Set up your Facebook account as a “Business Page” and not a “Personal Profile”: • No “friending”, collecting “likes”. • Special Administrator controls. • Connect with other local business Facebook pages. • Advanced moderation capabilities. • Handy records of “Insights”: How many people are interacting with your page. RC - The Next Generation
Facebook Tip #2 Scan with your smart phone for AYSO’s Social Media Guidelines. • Stick with it: • Be responsive. Respond to posts, questions, concerns in 24-48 hrs. • Be consistent. Come up with a posting schedule that works for you and post consistently. • Be aware. You (or the designated moderator) must pay close attention to the page to ensure spam or malicious posts are not lingering. RC - The Next Generation
Facebook Tip #3 • Keep Safety First • Be respectful. If a user violates your “Page Rules” remove the post. Repeated offender? Ban the user. • Be savvy. Edit your settings to ensure that foul language and spam posts will be automatically removed. • Be safe. Abide by Safe Haven’s social media policy. Important: Don’t tag minors or use their full names. RC - The Next Generation
Facebook Tip #4 • Check Your Insights • Discover which posts work best • How many people are “talking about you”? • Find out who “likes” you RC - The Next Generation
What About Twitter? RC - The Next Generation
Your Region and Twitter • A quick (140 characters or less!) way to connect with families, volunteers and your community. • Perfect for sharing links, timely updates, sponsor promotions and more. • An easy way to connect with the “stars”: famous AYSO alumni, MLS teams, AYSO partners SCORE, Shutterfly and others. Twitter Tips • Be a follower: Follow soccer players, local news organizations, related businesses, etc. • Be a linker: In your tweets, link back to your Region Facebook page, Region website and more. • Be Creative: Tweet with your followers about UMNT/UWNT (US Mens/Womens National Team) games, upcoming AYSO events, supporting local sponsors.
