At I.S.M. We have things called…
That’s right! Transdisciplinary Skills!
Skills are things that you learn to do well and that will help you get a job done.
Transdisciplinary means that you can use the skills in almost anything you do at school and even outside of school
Balancing on top of a ball is a skill, but is it a skill that you can use most of the time?
Playing the violin is a skill, but is it a skill that you can use most of the time?
Let’s think of some skills that we can use most of the time, whether we are in Math, Art, P.E. or languageclasses,
One of those skills is: Communication
Communicating means Sharing your answers & ideas through Reading Writing Listening Speaking
Another one of those skills is: Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving means how you tackle problems if some of your learning is hard to figure out. You can do this by: asking questions, listening to others and being creative with ideas that could help solve your problems
Another is: Connection & Collaboration
Connection & Collaboration means: Being cooperative with a group or partner, Discussing ideas, Respecting the ideas of others and Making decisions together
How about: Personal Management & Reflection
Personal Management & Reflection means: setting goals working towards goals reflecting on goals beingorganized and trying to improve
And the last one is: Research
Research means Figuring out what your question or problem is, Searching for information Reading and understanding the information and sharing it with others
So, ask yourself: “How good am I at reading, writing, listening and speaking?”
and “How could I get better at communicating?
“How good am I asking questions, listeningto others and being creative at solving my problems?”
and “How could I get better at critical thinking & problem solving?
“How good am I at cooperating with a group or partner, discussing ideas, and making decisions together?”
and “How could I get better at connecting & collaborating?
“How good am I at working on goals, staying organized, reflecting on my progress and trying to improve?”
and “How could I get better at personal management and reflection?
“How good am I at searching for information reading and understanding the information and sharing it with others?”
and “How could I get better at research?
Now, choose 2 of these transdisciplinary skills.
Write about how you are doing on them and how you think you need to improve.
