Our Proposal: Introduction • Northern Vance High School • Principal Brian Creasman • Yearly enrolment is between 900 and 1100 students (current enrolment is approximately 980) • “NVHS students will graduate with the knowledge and skills to be successful in the 21st Century.” • Supports State Board of Education goals 1, 2, and 5 Our School Our SIP objective

  3. Our Project • We have created a grant proposal which will address the gaps in Northern Vance’s current 1:1 initatives intended to move students into the 21st Century. • We researched several technology grants and settled on one that we think will help Northern Vance reach their goal.

  4. Why we choose SAS • No matching component • Able to name project cost • No software or partnership requirement • SAS founding partner in North Carolina 1:1 Learning Technology Initiative (NCLTI)

Statement of Need • Northern Vance High School located in Vance County • Vance County families may be at financial disadvantage for non-essential purchases, such as computers for use at home by children. • Vance County schools may also be struggling, according to test score data and graduation rates.

  10. School Plan Northern Vance High School Problem: • ~1200 students • Enough laptops to supply 80% of students • Of those, 150-200 laptops nonfunctioning at any given time Solution: • Laptop cart for each department, supplying 40 additional laptops per department

Conclusion • The funding we are requesting will benefit the students at Northern Vance High School by: • Providing access to technology for those students in need. • Teaching all students 21stcentury skills. • Giving all students the tools they need to succeed both in and outside the classroom.
