DO NOW • If you could travel anywhere on vacation, where would you go? Describe the scenery in as much detail as possible. Write at least six sentences.
Setting • Setting is the time and place a story occurs. Throughout our story, we learn details and bits and pieces of the setting and piece it together in our
Setting • Today we are discussing a story by Saki, the pen name of H.H. Munro, a British writer. Our story takes place in central-eastern Europe (Germany? Poland?) about 100 years ago and involves a long running feud between two families over land.
Pairwork • In pairs, work together to re-read the story and HIGHLIGHT any ADJECTIVES words that describe the forest. Then complete a sensory chart for the forest.
Independent Work • Design travel brochure the forest. • In both pictures and words, • it should take up one page and more than half of the page should be taken up by WORDS. • Describe the forest to the customer, explain what they can see, hear, touch, smell, and feel in the forest. • Explain its appeal to fighters, hunters, or whomever.
