  1. Photography Portraits

  2. Cosmetic Portraits • Think school pictures. • Your focus is on the subject not the background so the subject should take up most of the picture. • You can zoom in but it also helps to actually move in toward the subject as well if possible.

  3. Environmental Portraits • These include more background. • The background gives you clues about who the subject is. • Generally use wide shot instead of zoom for these. • You decide if flash is needed or not.

  4. Assignment • You may take as many pictures as you want but I will want you to submit the following to me by Monday afternoon via our group on Flickr (we will have laptops Monday in class for editing and submitting, or you can edit and submit this weekend at home) • 1 environmental portrait of a person • 1 environmental portrait of an animal or pet • 1 cosmetic portrait of a person • 1 cosmetic portrait of an animal or pet • 1 cosmetic portrait of an object of your choice

  5. Rules • Do not interrupt classes!!!!!! • Stay within the perimeters I give you! • Do not photograph anyone without their permission (animals excluded). • Do not do anything that will get you bit or attacked by an animal—I am not responsible. • Your picture subject may be anyone (with their permission) except you. We will do self portraits later.
