What does personal health affect? Personal health can affect everything about you: • Looks • How you feel • How you act • Attitudes toward school, work and play • Your relationships • Helps you determine your goals
The Three Elements of Health • Physical • Mental • Social
Physical Health • All body parts and systems of the body work well together • Your body is able to handle everyday stress • You have enough strength and energy to get through the day
Mental Health • How you like, accept and feel about yourself • How you relate to others • How you meet the demands of the day • You are able to express your emotions in an acceptable manner.
Social Health • How well you get along with others • How you make and keep friends • How you communicate and share your feelings
WELLNESS Wellness is your overall state of well-being or total health. It is how you live each day. Wellness includes physical, mental and emotional health.
LIFESTYLE FACTORS Lifestyle factors are activities you can do or avoid that will make your life better. • Sleep 7 to 8 hours a night • Eat three balance meals at regular times • Do not smoke • Eat breakfast • Exercise at least 30 to 40 minutes 3 to 4 times a week • Do not drink alcohol • Watch your weight
