Keys to Success • Turn in assignments on time • Late assignments not accepted or with penalty • Take personal responsibility • Improve attendance, tardies, early dismissals • Larger amount of content to cover • Most assignments cannot be completed without some teacher directives • Expect a challenge • HIGH expectations and RIGOROUS curriculum • Some students are preparing for HIGH SCHOOL level courses next year
Policy for make-up work • Absent 1 day- Two days to complete assignments • Absent 2 days- Three days to complete assignments • Absent 3 days- Four days to complete assignments • Absent 4 days- Five days to complete assignments

READING GT - 2nd NineWeeks Focus • SHORT STORY UNIT IN GREAT BOOKS • Perception and Reality Unit in textbook • NOVEL UNIT (Holocaust books) • Non-Fiction (scattered throughout) • Mini-research unit pairing our novel with science and completing a short RSA Animate • Continuous mini-lessons on reading skills and word work (stems, vocabulary, etc…) Please Note: • Reading logs and classwork help maintain good grades as well as studying for tests. ☺

Science- The Wonderful world of cells • Perform labs to investigate bacteria, protest, and viruses. How “CLEAN” is your water????? • Build models to distinguish the difference between plant and animal cells. • Use D2L ( Draw to Learn) strategies to understand the cellular processes essential for survival.
Why are you…...you Heredity… • Use Punnett Squares to predict inherited traits • Perform labs to understand dominant/recessive traits inherited from your parents…….. • Activity to distinguish between traits and environmental factors.

In order to succeed in Social studies students need to: • Keep binder organized • Make studying a priority, but not depend on studying to learn the material • Practice time-management in and out of class to complete projects • Take advantage of extra-credit opportunities (getting quizzes signed, corrections, etc.)
