Elements required for datasets registered in the EEA SDI catalogue • EEA needs: • Metadata ISO19115 and INSPIRE compliant • Register additional information (dataset location, temporal extent…) • Have a consistent structure for metadata records stored in the catalogue • Allow for automated processing of metadata by CSW clients • Consequences: • Increase the number of mandatory ISO19115 elements • Define very strict guidelines for all elements to be processed automatically • Define editorial guidelines to ensure consistency of metadata records
