Legal ? • Free, on-line application and website • Fills out JC forms, local forms and pleadings • Informs users how to properly file • Instructs users on where to file • Provides procedural instructions in the form of print and video • Gives users access to helpful resources • FAQ’s answered for reference • “Need help” button sends email to AJ for support

  3. I-CAN! Top 3: • Small Claims Lawsuits • Approx. 400 over the last 30 days • I-CAN! Prepares claims, postponements, appeals and all forms needed to collect on a Judgment • Family Law (divorce) • Approx. 300 over the last 30 days • I-CAN! prepares the Dec. of Disc. and Judgment • Unlawful Detainer • Approx. 120 Answers in the last 30 days • Approx. 2,000 Calif. pleadings created per month, in all areas

In Clinics • Clinics are successful in helping a large group of pro per litigants dealing with the same legal proceeding at one time • It’s also a great way to use volunteers who want to help and learn • Lawyers, Law Students, Paralegals and Paralegal Students, Undergrads, Attorneys who are clerks, etc.

Why Use I-CAN!? • It’s easy (2% of 128,000 surveyed found it “not”) • The user creates a log-in and profile • The user answers simple questions • I-CAN! places the user’s answers on the appropriate forms in the correct place • I-CAN! provides step by step instructions from service and proof of service, to before and after hearing • I-CAN! can also electronically file certain forms through CCMS

FAQ’s… • Do I need to download any software to use I-CAN!? • No. But you will need Adobe Reader in order to print. • Are county specific forms provided in I-CAN!? • Yes, for many counties. Contact us to have your county’s local forms added. • Does I-CAN! electronically file the forms with the court? • Small Claims related forms, in Orange County courts, can be e-filed through I-CAN! ( 9,321+ E-filings Nov. 2009 to May 2011) • Other courts can contact us to do E-filing with their courts • Name Change, Guardianship and Unlawful Detainer E-filing coming soon!

  9. I-CAN! FAQ’s • How much time will it take to go through the modules on I-CAN!? • Generally between 30min and 2hrs. It varies based on the case type and the user’s literacy • How long will I have access to my forms on I-CAN!? • Access does not expire. The unique, user log-in ensures the user’s capability to view, revise, save and print as needed
