Das Hallo benötigt 100.000 Jahre um Alien Rot zu erreichen. Antwortet Alien Rot, dauert es wieder 100.000 Jahre bis die Antwort Alien Grün erreicht. Das „Hallo“ läuft mit 300.000 km / Sek, also mit Lichtgeschwindigkeit. Es vergehen also 200.000 Jahre bis eine Antwort auf das „Hallo“ eintrifft. Das Beispiel soll zeigen, dass es schier unmöglich ist sich auf solche Entfernungen mit ev. intelligenten Lebensformen zu verständigen.
