Delivery of Programme • Every Thursday 3.30pm to 4.30pm in our conference room (or library classroom if more space is needed) • All ITT’s and NQT’s attend although other staff are welcome a) details appear in our weekly Bulletin • in the Professional Development area in our staff room • a full programme for the year appears in Trainee Induction Welcome Booklet • Staff with responsibility for key areas identified by our providers are invited to lead the workshops on their areas of specialism. Eg Role of the Head & Governors/ Child Protection Manager
Content of Programme • Based on key topics outlined by providers for each half term • Spare time is used to explore other relevant areas such as • how to write a good lesson plan • good pedagogy - (Teacher’s Toolkit – Paul Ginnes, making effective use of ICT) • trainee led seminars • staff involved in relevant Action Research have also contributed – linking PD Seminars to wider CPD in the School.
Professional Development Support Resources • After each PD seminar useful further reading materials are suggested – located in the CPD section of our library.
Links to Partnership Promotion Schools Initiative • Plymstock School is linked to Coomb Dean School , Ridgeway School and Hele’s School. • Termly, collapsed Professional Development Conference for all trainees in our cluster inviting guest speakers from the LEA, University etc • Allows trainees the opportunity to experience an inset opportunity, network with other trainees in the area and creates additional time in our school programme to explore other areas of teaching & learning.
Quality Assurance • PT always present • Weekly critical reflection notes recorded in the PPS Cluster Handbook. • ‘Evaluation of School Experience’ document completed in the last week of the placement. - document includes a section on the quality and relevance of the PD workshops.
