IPC Reform Implementation at the Irish Patents Office

The Irish Patents Office, founded in 1927, has implemented IPC reform to enhance system functionality and data exchange with external systems like EPO. The Ptolemy system, in use since 1999, has been adapted to allow dual-level IPC entry, modification, and archiving for both national and EP(IE) collections. The system now supports core and advanced levels, archiving, search functionalities, data transfer with external systems, and consultation services. Ongoing issues include system upgrades and integrating ~11,000 patents not on the current system.
