Essential Question 1: Energy Unit • Given notes, students in 6th grade science, will be able to create a concept map linking the 6 main forms of energy together. Students will demonstrate these skills by creating a concept map and will be graded upon completeness and accuracy of chart. Blooms Taxonomy: create, demonstrate Tennessee State Standard: SPI 0607.10.1 Distinguish among gravitational potential energy, elastic potential energy, and chemical potential energy.
Essential Question 2: Energy Unit • Students in 6th grade science, will discuss electricity and power lines. Students will discover why birds can sit on power lines and not get electrocuted . Students will demonstrate this understanding in a 1 page research paper. Bloom’s Taxonomy: discuss, discover, demonstrate Tennessee State Standard: GLE 0607.10.1 Compare and contrast the three forms of potential energy.
Essential Question 3: Energy Unit • Students in 6th grade science, will participate in a station rotation exercise, students will interpret which kinds of energy is being used in everyday household items. Students will then create a GoogleSlide presentation of each station and will be graded based on accuracy and creativity of each slide. Bloom’s Taxonomy: interpret, create Tennessee State Standard: SPI 0607.10.3 Recognize that energy can be transformed from one type to another.
