  4. About Ms. Willging…. • Degrees in Environmental Science, Education and Educational Technology • 15 years in 6th grade science, county curriculum writer, team leader • 15 years in 6th grade, team leader, Outdoor Education coordinator • 5 kids – one in college (plus a husband)

Here are a few… • Who do I contact when….? • Who is my child’s counselor? • What if we have a family vacation planned? • What can I do if my child is out for 2 or more days, and I would like to collect work? • How can I help my student prepare for tests/quizzes? • How do I schedule conferences with teachers?

  8. Policies and Expectations • Policies Letter – will be in science folder all year • Homework- may be assigned every night, but will more likely be 3 days/week • Textbooks - should stay at home • Science Folder- current objectives and notes

Absence/Make-up/Missing Work • Check my website • Student should see me upon return, check class folder on bulletin board • Students have the same number of days as they were out to make up missed work for full credit • I will plan a make-up day every couple of weeks to allow students to “catch-up” due to absences and pull outs and complete activities they might have missed

  10. Quarterly Assessments • Administered at the end of each quarter • Cover information from the whole quarter • Study guides will be available on my website - however, they are just that- guides! • Valued at 10% of quarterly grade

GT Research Project • A 6th grade project to introduce the science research process, will begin 2nd quarter • Teacher-directed topic • Goal is to teach students are to learn the process • Links with all resources will be on my webpage • Presentations will be made in May, format still TBD • Final Projects will be electronic • Analysis and writing will take place at home, some time will be given in school
