Overview • APIIT SD is established by SD Education Society (Regd.) in 2001 • SD Education Society is one of the oldest education society of India registered in 1946. • APIIT SD INDIA is running Undergraduate and Masters Courses in tripartite collaborative arrangement with APIIT Malaysia and Staffordshire University, U.K. Contd..
Overview • APIIT SD India is 1st International Engineering College in India duly Approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India & Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Haryana. • Presently APIIT SD India has 700 Students, 12 Syndicate Rooms, 19 Lecture Rooms, 12 computing and engineering labs & 50 Faculties along with other all necessary world class facilities.

Operational Model between partners • Tripartite collaborating agreement between APIIT INDIA, APIIT Malaysia and Staffordshire University, UK • Implementation of quality assurance through APIIT Malaysia at APIIT INDIA. • All quality assurance mechanisms are ensured to be implemented to collaborative partners.
Collaborative Areas • Technical know-how, support and services are extended to overseas sites by APIIT Malaysia. • Joint moderation and quality assurance for overseas center by APIIT Malaysia. • Staff development, induction and support to staffs are extended to overseas sites. • Support and help in identification and recruitment of teaching staffs.
Joint Research and Development • Contribution for exam paper, summative Assignment by overseas sites. • Participation and contributions in technical conferences by collaborative partners. • Contribution in Research and publications(journals) by collaborative partners.
Challenges of Collaborations • Seeking direct support from SU for phase out franchise degrees • Roll out of new degree courses in place of higher diploma of APIIT/UCTI. • Starting new courses of UCTI which should be acceptable to higher education system of Govt. of India.

Development in Indian Higher Education Environment • Higher Education in India has evolved in distinct and divergent streams with each stream monitored by an apex body, indirectly controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. • The 433 universities/ institutions, are mostly funded by the state governments. However, there are 40 important universities called Central universities, which are maintained by the Union Government and because of relatively large funding, they have an edge over the others. • The engineering education and business schools are monitored and accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) while medical education is monitored and accredited by the Medical Council of India (MCI). • Like-wise, agriculture education and research is monitored by the Indian Council for Agriculture Research. Apart from these, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) controls all the teacher training institutions in the country.
