The ISPRS Foundation – What & Why • Foundation - Funds for the perpetual support of an institution – “an endowment” • Providing a safe haven for the generous to support and/or give back to their profession • Enabling broader international participation in ISPRS activities – “developing countries” • Advancing the future of our profession – “education/training/R&D/applications” • Perpetuating & growing international cooperation – “tangible ISPRS devotion to the development & advancement of the P&RS&SI Sciences”

Goals • Solicit donations • Make annual grants • Minimize administrative costs (2%) • Promote wide public awareness • Perpetual source of benevolence • Equitable grant process • Consistent with ISPRS mission

Board of Trustees • Eleven Trustees – respected leaders from all facets of the ISPRS community • Grant Approval – based on ISPRS defined needs • Funds Responsibility - wise investment, management, and disbursement • Annual Reporting – to ISPRS Members, Donors, tax exemption authorities Chairman of the Board – Operations Officer – Finance Officer

Donations • Cash Contributions, Gifts, Endowments, Bequests, Devises, In-Kind Goods, etc. • Two Types – Restricted & Unrestricted • Restricted donations are designated for application to a specific grant category • Unrestricted donations may be applied to any grant category
11 Grant Categories • Sponsor International Workshops(15k) - with others • Research Initiatives(10k) - developments for ‘all’ • Travel Grants(2k) - developing country & keynoters • Scholarships & Fellowships(2k) -support our future • Awareness Education(10k) inform public of benefits • Distance Learning(5k)- sharing and educating • Tools & Literature–e.g. computers for less privileged • Internships & Exchange Programs–cross fertilization • Awards–recognition for outstanding actions • Standards–enabling wide use of our developments • Preservation of Archives–retaining our heritage

Global Context • Provides International opportunities for grants • Establishing Depositories on donor continents • Linkages arranged for donation retention in local foundations – but managed by ISPRS Foundation • Grants are open to individuals and institutions from all ISPRS Member countries • Non-discriminatory – politics, nationality, religion, race or gender • Results are shared with the international community “A win-win for all in the P&RS&SI sciences”
