  1. The Adverb- Kinds of Adverb 1.The bird sang sweetly. 2.Hari came yesterday. 3.The sun shines everywhere. 4.The old man walked slowly. 5.Tina writes neatly.

  2. An Adverb is a word which adds to the meaning of a verb, and tells us how a thing is done, when it is done or where it is done. Kinds of Adverb • She behaved foolishly • She ran fast. • Sita writes neatly. • The boys rowed well. (The adverbs foolishly, fast, neatly and well show how an action is done (or the manner in which) an action is done).

  3. 1.The boys are waiting outside .2. We looked for her everywhere.3. He lives here.4. The bus stops there.( The Adverbs outside, everywhere, here, there show where an action is done. Such Adverbs are called Adverbs of Place ( It answers the question – Where?

  4. He will come today. • He came here daily. • She will come presently. • The school will open tomorrow. • The doctor is coming immediately. ( The Adverbstoday, daily, presently, tomorrow, immediatelyshow when an action is done, such Adverbs are called Adverbs of time).

  5. You are always late. • We often went to the cinema. • He seldom came here. • She visited us once. ( The Adverbs always, often, seldom, once show how often an action is done, such Adverbs are called Adverbs of number. Adverbs of number answer the question- How often?)

  6. Pick out the Adverbs in the following sentences, and say which kind they belong. The rajputs fought bravely . She spent her money foolishly. The boy is standing outside. The doctor is coming immediately. The train does not stop here. The bus came once in a week. (Manner,manner,place, time, place,time)

  7. Fill in the blanks with the adverbs formed from the adjectives given in the bracket. • The boy wrote his exercise……(bad). • Our team played……and won the game……(well, easy). • John work….. And did the exercise…..today (hard,careful). • The king shouted……(angry). • The children played…….(happy).
