  4. plANTS AS NATURAL RESOURCES Chumash used sea grass and tule reed leaves Pine nuts/acorns stored for winter Plant fibers used to make ropes Domed shaped houses

  5. ANIMALS AS NATURAL RESOURCES Used seals and sea lions meat for food, skins, blankets, and capes Caught fish in the kelp beds Chumash diet consisted of plants and animals

  6. Tribal beliefs and activities It appears likely that there are large cave/cliff side paintings created as maps Supernatural beings believed to reside in the heavens

  7. Interesting facts Built tomols, plank boats, for water travel Chumash had a government to help their people Used tar to make their baskets and canoes waterproof
