What is Dual Enrollment? • Allows high school students to enroll in college courses at City College while they are still in high school • Tuition is Waived- FREE! • Textbooks are loaned - FREE!!
Why should students participate? • Get a taste of college and learn college behaviors • Enter college with credit already accumulated • Earn High School and college credit at the same time (3 college units = 10 high school credits) • Potential cost savings to families • Explore career areas • Looks great on college applications! • Most courses are UC and/or CSU transferrable! • Most courses can be applied towards a certificate program.
Dual Enrollment at CCSF • 300-350 Academy/Pathway students enrolled every Fall semester • 150-200 students enrolled every Spring semester.

The Program: First Source Pipeline • Target Audience: Juniors going into Senior year, or Seniors graduating in Summer • Summer 2014: Students enroll in Dual Enrollment course- CDEV 95: School Age Curriculum 7/7-7/23 • Fall 2014: Students participate in an internship and Dual Enrollment in CDEV 78: Field Experience in Comm. Youth Orgs • Spring 2015: Students take “Instructional Aide Exam”* • Fall 2016: Students enroll at CCSF and complete certificate units/join Metro CDEV Program for Transfer while working *After taking the exam students will have priority to work in after school programs and be a part of the sub pool for paraprofessionals.
Steps to Dual Enrollment 1. Apply Online (cccapply.org) 2. Complete Enrollment Packet: Intake Form Parent/Principal Consent forms Photo Release Form Submit unofficial transcript 3. Attend Mandatory Orientation 4. Attend the first class meeting of preferred course to ADD the class
First Source Enrollment Timeline • This Week: Enrollment Packets go out, Site Coordinators begin identifying and notifying students • Week of April 7th: Mariana and Valerie will visit school sites to present this opportunity to students and assist with online application (googledoc sign up will be emailed to you) • April 7th through April 30th : Collect enrollment packets and route to Karina
First Source Enrollment Timeline • May 2nd: Students who have submitted packets will be invited to an Informational Session • Week of May 12th: Student Informational Session at 20 Cook • Week of June 30th: Student Orientation at CCSF for registration, campus tour, and photo id’s • July 7th: CDEV 95 Begins!
