Fine Arts Program rated Exemplary Aiken Elementary offers Guitar club, Art Club, Honors choir as extensions to the Art and Music classes offered during the day. Reader’s theaters, holiday programs and exhibits, along with interdisciplinary studies such as civic engagement, allows for further competition in Fine Arts programs. Aiken Elementary
Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Recognized 100% of the campus participates in Red Ribbon activities. CATCH Program is used and all students participate in FitnessGram testing. P.E. extends their activities to include Jump rope for heart, Flag Football, Turkey Trot, Sombrero Race and the Annual Breast Cancer awareness walk. Aiken Elementary
Community and Parental Involvement rated Recognized Aiken Parents are highly encouraged to attend information sessions to help us prepare their child for state assessments. 21st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary Aiken Elementary participates in College Awareness days. 36 colleges are introduced weekly so that students are informed of higher education settings. The campus hosts a career and college day where members of the community continue to support the partnership of businesses in education. Aiken Elementary
Dropout prevention Strategies rated Exemplary Aiken Elementary continuously monitors attendance daily. We encourage our students to attend class every day using BISD’s attendance initiative and innovative ways using current events. We also offer accelerated instruction after school and several Saturdays throughout the year to assist students with further instruction. Aiken Elementary
Second Language Acquisition rated Recognized ELL students are provided with multiple cultural awareness experiences such as El Dia del muerto, Charro Days, Cinco De Mayo, Chinese New Year and Dia Del Nino. Aiken has a bilingual program that offers tools to teachers to assist in the development of English language listening, Speaking, reading and writing. Aiken Elementary
Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Aiken Elementary is aimed at supporting technology integration in instruction. Campus staff uses technology as a tool to supplement instruction with istation, Think Through Math, Tango, Calculators, Living with Science Etc. Gifted and Talented Program rated Recognized Aiken identifies G/T students in Grades 1-5 for differentiated instruction. These students participate in Science Fair, UIL, Destination Imagination and Chess.
