Field Program – Yield Trials • Approx. 6000 yield trial plots in NC • Five NC locations (Clayton, Kinston (2), Lewiston, Salisbury) • Mixed results with low yields at some locations (drought) • Additional 5000 plots coordinated from Raleigh • Three public, six private company cooperators • Bird issues at a few locations affected data

  4. Germplasm in trials • Families derived from GEM breeding crosses • GEM released lines • Tester combinations • GEM breeding crosses • Potential new germplasm for breeding crosses

  5. Nursery • Approx 4000 rows plus 1100 rows in isolation in 2011 • GEM Breeding crosses for S1 development • GEM S1’s for S2 development • Allelic Diversity • GEM x GEM crosses • GEM bulk increases for released lines and potential releases • New breeding cross development
