Conducting the Test • TELPAS manual pages 57-61 • Testing Environment • One test administrator for every 30 students • Support test security during online testing by making an effort to prevent students from seeing one another’s monitor (manila folder or cardboard) • Bulletin boards and instructional displays that might aid in the answering of the questions must be covered • No element of the testing room should hinder any student’s performance (lighting, quiet, well ventilated, etc.) • A “Testing- Do Not Disturb” sign should be posted outside the testing room
Conduct the Test • Scheduling • Follow the schedule submitted by your campus TELPAS testing coordinator. • Every effort should be made to administer the TELPAS reading test to students who are absent on a given day of testing within the TELPAS window • Testing Procedures • The seating chart must be completed, including the names of students testing and the students’ locations in the room. Also include the names of ALL test administrators/monitors involved in a session. • All student workstations are cleared of books and other materials not required for the test • Test is untimed • No reference material can be used • Scratch paper is allowed- but must be blank. All scratch paper must be returned to the testing coordinator to be destroyed • Test administrators must actively monitor the testing room while students are working. Test administrators should confirm that students do not have access to nonallowed materials. • Test administrators must ensure the student has submitted properly before the student leaves the room
Start and monitor test session • TELPAS manual pages 62-64 • Log into TAMS • Go to Test Management > Manage Test Sessions • Click the session name • Click the “Start” button • Read the directions verbatim • Grades 2-5 pages 72-75 • Grades 6-12 pages 77-82
Absent Students • Any student that is absent from the test session will need to be moved to a Makeup session (the test session can not be stopped until all tests are submitted and all absent students have been moved out) • TELPAS Manual Page 54
Monitoring Students During Test • TELPAS manual pages 63-65 • Use the “Refresh” link in the Status column of the student list on the Session Details screen to refresh the data on the screen • Exiting vs. Submitting • If the student is done, they must Submit rather than Exit.
