Exercise 17A First solo Aim To carry out a safe and accurate circuit, approach and landing.
Ready for solo For the first solo flight you should have- • Medical certificate • Airlaw Exam • 3rd party insurance
Short in cockpit brief Handling The aircraft will be carrying less load and will consequently • Accelerate more rapidly and become airborne after a shorter run • Have a greater climb rate • Require less power to maintain straight and level flight • Be lighter and more responsive to the controls • Float a little more during the hold off stage of landing
During The flight Carry out one or more circuits as briefed and report to the instructor. During the flight:- • Carry out all checks and drills fully • Fly the aircraft and the circuit approach and landing exactly as just practised dual • Maintain a constant LOOKOUT, and act in accordance with the normal rules of air in conflict situation • Do nor hesitate to go around if the runway is obstructed or the approach is not up to standard. Fly a full circuit climbing to a circuit height. • If an emergency arises deal with it exactly as taught and do not panic, you can cope
