Troostwood Park • Location for the first rain garden in Kansas City • A gas station was originally located here • Troostwood park located on at 49th and Troost.  • It is a great place to take the dogs down to and run around with. Or to take the kids so they can run around and play in the evenings.  • Stowersis gracious enough to maintain the grass. .

  4. Community Garden • Location for Missouri Youth Explore Urban Agriculture: a program for youth to learn about urban agriculture skills • Open mid May to late October

  5. Rockhurst Fields • The artificial turf requires less maintenance and it is easier to play sports on • Anyone can use it

  6. Physical Location • Between Troost and The Paseo, seconds from highway 71 and The Country Club Plaza • One of the older neighborhoods in Kansas City

  7. Brush Creek • The Battle of Westport was fought on both sides of the creek (the biggest battle in the Civil War) • It is 10.5 miles long and it’s actually a tributary for The Blue River

  8. Brush Creek Flood Zone At one time, the creek was made out of concrete and would flood a lot more because the water would not drain into the ground

  9. The Nature Center • The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center • One of the few nature centers in the urban core • Contains gardens, wetlands, walkways a wildlife

  10. Kauffman Gardens Named after successful businessman and original KC Royals owner, Edward Kauffman and his wife Muriel; they are buried at this location

  11. Tulips (from Tulips on Troost) • Started in 2006 by Durwin Rise who came back to his hometown and wanted to change the blight and racial division on Troost •  Through its mission, they hope to inspire and motivate the citizens of Kansas City to recognize the value of neighborhood capital improvements and beautification in some of the city's most under-served neighborhoods.
