What you will learn about triangles • What a triangle is • The four different kinds of triangles and the differences between them
Properties of Triangles • All triangles have 3 sides • All triangles have 3 angles • The three angles will always add up to 180
There are 4 kinds triangles • Right • Equilateral • Isosceles • Scalene
The Right Triangle • The right triangle has a special corner that is 90 degrees. This called a “right angle” • The other 2 corners will add up to 90 totaling 180 for the whole triangle Right Angle
The Right Triangle • Right triangles also have a special side called the hypotenuse • The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle Hypotenuse Right Angle
Equilateral Triangle • Equilateral Triangles have 3 sides • Each side is the same length. • Each corner has the same degree which is 60 .Three corners that are 60 equal 180
Isosceles Triangle • Isosceles Triangle has 3 sides. 2 of the sides are of equal length. • 2 of the corners are the samedegree • The 3 corners will still add up to 180
Scalene Triangle • Scalene Triangle has 3 sides. • None of the sides are equal. None of the corners are equal in degrees. • If you add up the corners, they will still equal 180
In Review Can you match the name of the triangle with its picture? Right Isosceles Scalene Equilateral
Good job! The End!
