Mentoring Peer Mentors • Pair incoming students with continuing students who are • in same or related major: Biology & Biochemistry are fine to pair together • have been successful: You do not want mentoring to weight down struggling student
Mentoring Professional/Faculty Mentors • May be more helpful for students who are juniors/seniors, committed to their field & thus able to get the most out of a high level mentoring experience
Increasing Faculty Interaction How faculty interact (or don’t) with students can make the difference between women persevering in STEM or leaving. • Students do not always know when they fit.
