Background • One of the important goal of CAS taxonomy is to enhance the quality of financial information • Calculation linkbase is far from sufficient in terms of representing the inherent logic and dependency of financial reporting data, i.e. • lack of ability to calculate cross context • lack of ability to multiply between elements

  3. Use Case Analysis • Some most commonly used calculation on financial reporting data includes: • Total of sub category accounts • Movement analysis, i.e. beginning balance + increase – decrease = ending balance • Converting between currency exchanges • All these can’t be achieved via calculation linkbase.
