LCG/Southgrid • Part of Southgrid distributed tier 2 - HEP Farm • Running gLite version 3.0.5 • Batch system: Condor 6.8.1 • Head nodes: CE, SE, UI, MON/LFC • Supported VOs: Atlas, Alice, LHCb, CMS, dteam, biomed, NA48, ops • 43 WNs, 2.3TB storage • GridMON box in operation • 24hrs transfer tests good, Castor test less good Andy Parker
Condor • Still not happy with the type of support for Condor • LCG deploy development releases, instead of production releases, and overwrite updated versions (!**@!) • We remove their release during installation and install the correct production release Andy Parker
Condor/Camgrid • Use of Condor allows us to participate in CamGrid, and hence receive SRIF money • 20-30 new dual core/dual socket servers to be delivered this autumn • £450k SRIF invested in CamGrid this year. • 400 HEFCE machines linked up • 400 new servers for HPCF Andy Parker

LCG makes life difficult • LCG runs top down, inflexible, intrusive middleware • Need outbound connectivity from every WN (use NAT) • Need experiment and middleware core (remote mount central store: chirp/parrot) • Need user accounts for experiments (require root access - not popular) • Tests of NAT and chirp in progress. User accounts likely to restrict ability to share CamGrid resources. Andy Parker
