Location • MP 9.0 Index Galena Road @ Howard Creek.
Existing Bridge Looking Northerly at Bridge 496 Looking downstream at Bridge 496
Issues • Structurally Deficient Bridge • SSD rating 6.0 out of 100 • Load limited at 5 tons • Accessible from Jack’s Pass only, due to I-G washout at MP 6.4-6.9. • Precludes delivery of ready mix concrete. • Potential issue with 80 ft girder delivery.
Issues • Residents between washout and Bridge near MP 7
Issues • Existing Stopping Sight Distance does not meet EDDS for posted speed limit 35 mph. • Bridge is located on a crest curve, vs. sag. • Existing SSD is OK for 30 mph 200’ min.
Issues • Drainage concept • Low added new impervious. • Mimic existing flow patterns.
Issues • Thalweg clearance from existing structure appears low, at about 5 ft. • 3 ft clearance from 100 yr flood per EDDS may not be feasible, depending on hydraulic conditions, and structure type. • SWM to assist with 100 yr WSE
Funding • FHWA / WSDOT • Highway Bridge Program • 2010 call for projects • FHWA grant # BROS – V 310 (002) • 80 ft bridge length • 28 ft curb to curb • Agreement # LA 7374 • PE Funds obligated 04-07-2011
