  2. Tenancy Agreement • Agreement entered into between tenant and landlord • Usually written (lease) • Indeterminate or Fixed Term Lease • Lease is renewed automatically if payment continues • Do not need to resign new agreement

  3. Security of Tenant • Tenant can continue occupying unit until: • Proper notice is given • Landlord and Tenant agree to end tenancy • Tenant disagrees with eviction, appeals, and loses • Exceptions to the rule

  4. Amount of Notice Needed

  5. Tenant is Protected • 24 hours notice before landlord enters • Landlord cannot lock tenant out • Landlord cannot change locks

  6. Reasons for Ending Tenancy • Ending “For Cause” • Not paying the rent in full • Causing damage to rental property • Disturbing other tenants or the landlord • Illegal activity in rental unit or residential complex
