If your son or daughter needs help ... • they can see me by appointment periods 3 and 8 • they can see me before school 6:45-7:30 am. • they can try several practice software packages for Spanish. • they can email me at gcharvat@d211.org
Is there homework in Spanish? • Of course there is! Usually there is homework every night! On average 20-30 minutes a night. • Homework is usually from the Spanish 5 AP workbook, short stories, essays, or a variety of other sources. • Each student will be given a 30 point homework grade each quarter. • If your son or daughter has missed three assignments by midterm it will be indicated on their midterm report.

GRADING POLICY The Quarter Grade is Divided into two equal categories- each category is worth one-half of the quarter grade. • Quizzes/Tests • Orals- speeches, participation, essays, AP practice tapes, etc.

Typical AP Questions • Should my child take the AP Test? • When is the AP test? • What is the AP test like? • What other options are available for AP credit?
Should my child take the AP test and when is it? • Spanish 5 AP is designed to prepare your child for the AP test, however, he/she does not have to take the AP test. • If they are doing well in the class and they do well on the practice tests, they should strongly consider taking the AP test. • The Spanish Language AP Test is usually the first Tuesday in May! (Tuesday May 8, 2012)
What is the AP test like? Listening 20% Reading 30% Writing 30% Speaking 20% The writing is comprised of grammar and essay sections
What other options are available for AP credit? • Many colleges and universities offer placement examinations. Many students receive college credit on these exams. • The SAT II Test is available also. Have your child see their counselor for details. Many colleges and universities still do not accept this test for credit.
Foreign Exchange • This summer there will be a Foreign Exchange trip to Guatemala/Belice. The trip will be in June. • Details will be coming soon!
