AXIS 2460 System Overview • AXIS ETRAX 100LX • ARTPEC-1 • 4 MB FLASH • 32 MB RAM • Up to 4 internal IDE hard disks • 0, 80GB or 160 GB • Linux 2.4
AXIS 2460 on the Outside • Power connector 115/230V 50-60Hz • RJ-45 for Ethernet 10/100 • 4 + 4 BNC (analogue video in + out) • RS-232 (modem + external device control) • RS-485 (PTZ not supported in first rev.) • 4 alarm inputs + 1 relay output control
Axis DVR advantages over analogue VCR • Image quality, no tape wear-out • No maintenance • Quick search • Remote administration • Longer recording time
Availability / Time to First Reduction Examples, approximate figures in days – 1 fps from four cameras.
Recording Modes - APViS • Normal • Same as FIFO, i.e. oldest recording erased completely no matter what priority • Extended • Approximately doubles recording availability over Normal • Extended Long • Approximately five-doubles recording availability over Normal • Max Store Time • Regardless of recording mode, maximum store time of recordings can be specified per camera to enable compliance with local legislation
Recording Conditions – Event Set-Up • Always • Scheduled • At alarm • Manually
AXIS 2460 features • Advanced alarm handling • Up to 100 events, whereof 50 simultaneously active, can be defined • Recording frame rate can be automatically increased upon alarm • Pre-alarm buffer: recording triggered by event also includes video from just before the event took place
AXIS 2460 features • Triplex functionality; simultaneous • Live viewing/Playback • Recording • Administration • Secure storage • Recordings are striped on 2 or 4 disks • If a disk fails, ¼ of the images are lost • No complete recordings are lost • Recording continues at full frame rate
Secure Storage • A method to reduce the impact of a hard disk crash or unexpected power failure • The AXIS 2460 writes images sequentially to all available disks • With for example 4 disks and in case of a disk crash, ¼ of the images of all recordings are lost, i.e. a 25 % decrease of frame rate is the only result and no complete recordings are lost • The AXIS 2460 uses a journaling file system (ext3fs) • After a power crash, the AXIS 2460 self-repairs and automatically resumes normal operation • The recordings database is continuously backed up to all available disks, but 1 minute of latest recordings may be lost
AXIS 2460 features • Built-in firewall functionality and user level access control (user name, password) • Unauthorized stations can be locked out from access • Three levels of users can be defined allowing different levels of access for different authorized persons
Axis – a smarter solution • Many DVR’s don’t allow simultaneous recording, playback, live viewing, and administration • The AXIS 2460 has this triplex functionality • Archiving is often done to CD-RW, tape, Jaz and so on • The AXIS 2460 creates AVI on the PC for archiving on any medium of free choice • Many competitors require client software for remote viewing • The AXIS 2460 has everything built in – even a complete Web server!
Customers and applications #1 • Small-scale businesses requiring an easy to operate and remotely available monitoring and/or surveillance system: • Small retail shops (loss prevention and monitoring) • Gas stations (loss prevention and monitoring) • Small workshops (employee/production monitoring)
Customers and applications #2 • Larger corporate organizations requiring a centrally administered remote monitoring and/or surveillance system: • Retail chains/franchises (loss prevention) • Telcos and ISPs (technical facilities surveillance) • Public service providers (monitoring of water, gas, power supply, etc. systems)
