Purpose • The structure was Built by the Greek sculptor Phidias. • Phidias built the structure to honor the Greek god Zeus. • The structure was used a decoration for the Temple of Zeus in Olympia and worship.
Uniqueness • This statue was unique because it was the largest statue of the god Zeus ever created. • The statue took 8 years to build. • The statue was built out of gold and ivory and was decorated with Ebony wood, precious stones, and other precious minerals.
