JAMSS- Japan Manned Space Systems Corporation Safety and Product Assurance Department Software IV&V team Haruka Nakao ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
IV&V Team Background • JAMSS is anengineering support company of JAXA and supports International Space Station (ISS) Japanese module development. • IV&V team has been involved in software independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of safety mission critical system since 1998. • We had done IV&V for 10 kinds of project, 15 kinds of system (Onboard S/W of ISS module, Satellite, Space vehicle, ground S/W). ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
Current work • IV&V for 3 space projects. • Developing new techniques and validating them. • Validating existent techniques • Research of strategic IV&V assessment with University of Hawaii (Prof. Dan Port) • Strategic IV&V planning model Note: “Strategic” means activities contribute to achieving an overall expected outcome rather than addressing a particular issue or problem ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
Future work • IV&V for space projects based on Strategic IV&V planning model and validate them. • Include IV&V cost model, IV&V standardization, benchmark test using common model, IV&V framework, • Assign new IV&V techniques for never tried area (operational requirement, reuse, COTS) • Investigation of accidents and malfunctions and measure value of IV&V attributes and techniques by systemization of malfunctions • Enhancement of software IV&V for other domains such as Automobile, Nuclear, airplane, medical, defense, etc… ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
Expected benefits from ISERN • New technologies that are beneficial to software IV&V • Individual IV&V techniques (Testing, modeling, etc…) • Value based technique • Research results that are produced by other industry domains in order to compare to our result produced by space systems. • Research opportunities for IV&V technologies ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
Contribution to ISERN • Clarify and identify issues on safety critical system development • Share data behind issues that characterize the solutions for each issues • Use of research results and report demonstrated status and validated results ISERN 2005 @Noosa Head
