Explore the potential of subnational actions in Mexico for landscape regeneration, focusing on forest and grazing lands. Aiming for sustainable transformation, this initiative led by Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda includes state-funded mechanisms, policy orientation, and awareness campaigns. Applying ICAT guidance, the project assesses GHG impacts and NDC goals for planned grazing and forest regeneration. The expected sustainable development outcomes include social Return on Investment evaluation, income increase for ranches, and environmental value returns. Through a transformational impact matrix and policy design improvements, the initiative targets system reorientation towards regenerative practices, building a network of committed stakeholders and promoting integrated landscape management.

GHG Impacts and NDC Goals Forest Regeneration • Net GHG impact: -694,000 tCO2e/year in 2030 from 12 subnational actions • 5% of emissions goal of -14 MtCO2e for 2030 (source of goal: INECC 2017) • Reorientation of system of government programs, technical support, incentives and financial mechanisms is expected to result in greater impacts.
