Determine where the following people, job descriptions and symbols belong on the NSL chart.
1 & 2.This branch of government is responsible for making laws.
3 & 4. This branch of government is responsible for carrying out the law.
5 & 6. This branch of government is responsible for interpreting laws.
7.These people serve a 6 year term, make laws at the national level of government and have the power to impeach the President. Each state receives two of them.
8 & 9. There are 141 members in this body that makes laws for the state of Maryland along with the governor and the MD Senate. They are elected every four years.
14. There 9 members of this council that makes laws for Montgomery County. Four of them are elected at large by all Montgomery County residents and five represent specific districts.
10. There are 9 of these who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the US Senate. They preside over the highest court in the United States.
11. There are seven of these who preside over the highest court in the state of Maryland.
12. There are 47of these who serve in the legislative branch of the state of Maryland. They have the power to pass laws, but only if the House of Delegates and the Governor of Maryland also approve them.
13. There are 435 Members of this body that makes laws for the entire nation. Each one must run for re-election every 2 years. The more people in a state, the more these they receive.
14. This person serves a four year term and is elected by registered voters in Maryland. They are in charge of the executive branch of the state of Maryland.
15. This person is elected every four years in Montgomery County. They are in charge of the executive branch of Montgomery County.
16. This type of court can only try cases where there is either less than $10,000 at stake or misdemeanors charges. One of these courts is located in Rockville, but is actually run by the state.
17. This type of court in Maryland tries all felony cases and civil cases involving over $10,000. One of these courts is located in Rockville next to the district court.
18. At this type of court cases involving individuals from two different states, an individual and the federal government or a state and the federal government. EX: Recently, Allen Iverson was found guilty of beating up two DC citizens at a DC night club. Iverson is a resident of Pennsylvania. The case was held in one of these courts.
19. This person serves four years, is in charge of the executive branch at the national level and serves as the Commander in Chief and Head of State in the United States.
