What is the SixthSense.. • A gestural recognition device that augments the physical world with the digital world. • A device that is comprised of four kinds of software; a camera, mirror, smart phone, and a battery powered pocket projector.
...and what does it do? • The SixthSense allows one to access information by touch or gesture. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUdDhWfpqxg • You have to see it for yourself!
Business Drivers – Why would someone use it and for what • It is versatile, which can be use for various groups of people for various projects. • Teaching, Artwork, Entertainment. • It is able to recognize objects around you, and access information automatically. • It is not a “deaf and blind” technology. • According to Gartner’s Hype Cycle for 2010, gestural recognition for gaming is at its peak and should be maturing in less than 5 years. • The SixthSense is unclear when it will be available for the market.
Technologies it may replace • The SixthSense technology can potentially replace every type of hand held device currently available today.
Who uses it, and for what? • The sixth sense technology is just in the developmental stages still, but possibilities for it in the business setting are endless.
Is it a threat to an existing company/industry? • It can be a threat to companies such as Sony, Apple, Nikon, etc. However, it still needs to use a smart phone to access the internet. • The only difference is SixthSense can access information by itself whereas a smart phone is “deaf and blind.”
Our Evaluation • We believe the SixthSense will be successful in the future once it is more practical in everyday use.
