Text Appeal ROBRADY design had entered the RED DOT International Design Competition the year before and come away empty-handed despite a truly arresting and innovative product, the Vectrix Electric Superbike. After listening closely to the studio team, I was able to tell their story in the following year’s RED DOT submission. Snappy headings caught the reader’s eye and led them through the story of this revolutionary creation. The result was a winning submission. (press enter for more)

…1000 WoRDS Every job has a perfect tool. Sometimes that tool is text, other times that tool is imagery. Often, the most successful message integrates both. All Saints’ Mercy & Justice ministry is multi-faceted and needed a logo that could represent each division while also branding the ministry as a whole. My solution was a modular logo with distinct icons for each ministry that suggested the overall ministry through consistent compositional elements. (press enter for more)

This spec ad combines an eyecatching image with catchy copy to express the brand message while expanding the potential audience from older professionals to those who aspire to be.
THE GOOD NEWS(LETTER) As Communications Coordinator at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, I was responsible for messages in many form—from Sunday programs, to weekly video loops, to special flyers and the monthly newsletter. During my time, the newsletter moved from black & white to color and expanded to incorporate the youth ministry newsletter into the main church publication. (full issue available in pdf upon request)
A…B…C…3D Sticky messages that have impact come from minds that look at the “big picture” from textual, visual and spatial perspectives. TheEpiscopal Church of St. Matthew needed a program for their Hollywood Glamour Gala. I designed an elegant yet simple program that could be produced efficiently and economically in-house. Additionally, I included descriptions and pictures of the church’s many ministries, telling St. Matthew’s story and showing attendees where their money was going. I also included sponsor and advertiser sections that transformed the program from simply a list of auction items into an additional means of revenue.

A…B…C…3D Sticky messages that have impact come from minds that look at the “big picture” from textual, visual and spatial perspectives. …then, to promote the event, I created a Keynote loop to play during the church’s fellowship hour in the weeks leading up to the event. This not only informed the parish, but communicated the tone and fun of the event and built excitement. The result was larger attendance and more money raised over previous years.

Sometimes thinking outside the box means that even the box itself can be part of the message. This application for the Rogues Artists’ Ensemble was constructed as a collapsible box. It mailed flat, and when pulled from its envelope, popped open to a 3-dimensional shape which featured the pages of the application on each side of the cube and captured the “steampunk” style of production.
